    Immigration/residency issues
I need to divorce my husband of 20 years but am still waiting for my indefinite stay to remain. How does this impact on my stay in the country?

Please inform me of all the legal elements that I can use to protect myself and remain in the country?

    Help me, thanks

I assume you and your husband are in UK. Info given here is somewhat confusing. If you've been married for 20 years, you should have obtained British citizenship many years ago.

What's the story? And what's the ground for divorce?

If your divorce has grounds on certain issues such as adultery or domestic violence, etc. Then you have a chance to maintain your status without your husband.

I was kept from knowing mylegal and human rights, being he is very controlling and as a result missed out on getting my citizenship. The grounds as that I am being taken advantage of and am being emotionally abused.
I am waiting to get my indefinite stay to remain and now I am being harassed by him.

I am very worried that he could try to blackmail me.

    Please, what can I do?
