Need to install commode in basement with no in floor pipes
Hi, single mom trying to put commode in basemet and tap into piping in the wall. I think the commode would need to be elevated somehow, because there is no plmb. Roughed in the cement. I did connet a sink to the existing lines and that turned out good. Also do I need to run a vent line? Any help greatly appreciated!!

    Thanks

    Hi Mom,
Unless you wish to jackhammer up the floor you'kk need a rear dischaege bowl. Click on; Rear Outlet Toilet - Bathroom Fixtures - Compare Prices, Reviews and Buy at NexTag - Price - Review to check them out. But you have a vertical stack that you must cut a fitting into to pick up the toilet. Now I don't know how far up that stack goes but it's going to be a two man job to cut a pice out of the stack and insert a fitting. And if the stack should fall during the process you would have a real expensive mess on your hands. This is major surgery and unless you're very sure that you have the necessary labor and plunbing skills to complete the installation I would get three estimates and go from there. As for the vent you will have to contact your local Building Department. Good luck, Tom

    Hey all:

    One more thought for Mom...

Could also install a saniflo plus toilet (and a sink) using the saniflo macerator pump system.

    Check out this link:

Saniflo macerating toilets: install a bathroom in the basement or any small space

Do not get hung up on the macerator TOILET... look at the saniplus macerator PUMP system.

The pump can be hidden behind wall, or exposed. Either way, it is another option for you. It does require that a vent be installed and from the sink and from the pump (they connect together then run and connect to another vent.. or may need to go to attic and connect into vents up there).

This system is reliable... requires no cement work, is a little different in that it makes high pitched sound when pump activates.. but works great!

Hey, let us know what you think... Mark
