VIRTUAL CITIZENS - Barack Obama: Hypocrisy on Health Care
This looks like an article put up by one of Hillary's pals.
Sky this article favors single payer unversal care. There are problems with all the candidates health care proposals but it is actually to his credit that Obama is not in favor of anything as radical a change as government single payer systems.
The only way his plan differs from Evita's (who would love to introdice a single payer system but understands it is politically impossible to do so ) is in the degrees of Federal mandates that every individual has health coverage.
None of the Presidential candidates plans has a chance to make it through Congress intact. It is my guess that if there is change in health care it will come in modest degrees and will more resemble McCain's proposals than the Democrat candidates.
Tom, the key factor one must be cognizant of is that while in the Illinois Senate, Obama was for a single-payer health plan by co-sponsoring the Bernardin Amendment since it was advantageous to him politically. Then later, he favored Universal Health Care, again, when it was advantageous to him, translating into him being against the public and FOR Big Business! Though the public wants a Single-Payer Healthplan, Obama forsakes that plan in favor of BIG BUSINESS interests. Where's that courageous fighting spirit for CHANGE? Now that's a Politician for you who does not want true CHANGE but rather the Status Quo. But back in his state senate days he wanted Universal Health Coverage for people but now as a presidential candidate it's a horse of a different color. More flip-flopping for you! That's his record. Indeed, it is hypocrisy at its worst! And that's the real issue here!Quote:
