Is there a limit to the amount that a personal check can be? My parents are giving me 2500 for college expenses and I didn't know if that could be done with a check?

I don't believe that there is a limit. I've written cheques for more than that amount with no problem. You may find that your bank will put a hold on the check until it clears though. Your parents could always e-transfer the funds to you which will take the money directly from their account and put it right in to yours.

N problem with a check that size. While $2500 is a lot of money, it pales in comparison to the size of checks people write when they buy a car or a house, or pay college tuition.

Thanks, it is for part of my college tuition for the summer. I just didn't know if they had a limit when writing a personal check to another person. But I deposited the check this morning.
