Trying to find out the code for westchester county ny if it would be required to rewire bathroom circuit from a 15 amp to a 20 amp circuit if I actually did not do any major work basically I upgraded the services to each apartment and installed new lines to the kitchen counter without Sheetrock being replaced

Good news bad news.

If you are responsible for a Multi Family Residence, there is no DIY electrical work you can do.

Multi Family residences require the work to be done by a licensed electrician.

There is NO reason you should have to upgrade a bathroom just because you upgrade a feeder and add kitchen circuits.

At the same time... Don is right! Your electrician should be the one telling you this!!

So you come to a DIY board to ask questions?

My first call would have been to the local building department.

Don't forget, much of Westchester requires a license, and I don't think your NJ will hold any water there.
Anything from Westchester south gets real dicey.

Well I work for a company with a westchester lic. So it actually holds water the problem k
Is the Inspector wanted me to put them in and we think he had no right to request that and actually I ended finding it in the new York state existing building code and there it states that there is no requirement to even change the bathroom receptacle to a gfi receptacle all it states is that if you replace the device it should be replaced with a gfi type but no mention about replacing the circuit

When something like this arises you simply ask "Hey, where is that in the code book so I can look it up? I like to read these things for myself."

There's no need to get angry. This is a DIY board and there is nothing in your initial description of your problem that would lead anyone to the conclusion that you are first a contractor let alone a licensed electrician.

How about you try picking up the phone and calling the city inspector for that city and asking them. Or you could bring them your license and tell them they need to tell you how to do your job. I do not mean to make a snide comments about Westchester County. I know it is a warren hole of jurisdictions.
