Hello,

I recently moved into this manufactured home and the toilet seems to have trouble filling up. There is about an inch of water in the tank and a rigid tube pointing into it is blowing bubbles. I tried adjusting amount of water coming into the toilet with the shut-off valve and the ballcock seems to work fine. I tried finding a similar question on this forum but haven't found an answer to this specific question yet. Any advice?

Tell me if inside toilet tank looks like pic.#1 or pic.#2...

Toilet REFILL TUBE(as marked in top pic... number 5 in bottom pic.) should not be blowing bubbles in tank... should be set into overflow pipe

Water in tank should be between 1/2" to 1" below overflow pipe after toilet tank filled (see blue water level in pic. #2... same for water level at pic. #1).

My toilet looks like pic2. The refill tube is in the right place and is not bubbling. The bubbles are coming out of tube #4 in pic2.

It is OK for water to be coming out of tube #4... so bubbles/water from here is fine!

What level does the toilet tank fill up to once the water shuts of by itself.. It should be about the same level as in the picture (about a 1/2" to 1" below the white overflow pipe).

If not at right level you should see a screw up on top of fill valve.. right around #11 in pic. Above. Loosen this screw a bit... should increase water level in tank and improve flush.

I'm OK with a few bubbles coming out of it, but it seems like it's too many bubbles and not enough water. If I flush the toilet, it will be "filling the tank" all night because there's not enough water filling up. It takes way too long. I guess I didn't make my question clear but I want to know how to increase the amount of water pressure/rate. I have the shut-off valve open to full but it doesn't help. Also, I should say that in the same bathroom, the sink and the stand-in-shower have good pressure and the tub has decent pressure as well.

YUP.. got you now... ;) The fill valve is defective or should I say clogged up.

You can try two different things... you can try to repair this fill valve or you can replace the fill valve with a new fill valve like in the 1st picture I posted.

If want to try to repair the old fill valve you need to shut water at the shutoff below toilet... then remove the 4 screws at the top of the fill valve (should be screws up top.. or your unit could also just TWIST off).. then lift top of unit off and remove the washer inside... when you lift the washer you may see what is clogging the unit... then PULSE the water from the shutoff for a second or two (put rag over top of valve), replace the washer and reinstall the top of the unit. Turn water back on and see if that fixed it.

If that did not fix it, then need to replace that fillvalve with one like I showed you in 1st pic... called a fluidmaster fill valve. Here, you shut water at shutoff, drain all water from tank (use sponge to get last bits of water out) and then loosen the water connector under toilet, then remove the nut at bottom of fill valve (under tank) and remove old unit. Then install new fill valve as instructions suggest... reconnect the water connector and then set the water level to within 1/2" to 1" from top of the overflow tube. Then turn water on... should be all set.

Let us know if you need more information... one of the two suggestions here will fix this problem.
