Wetness in basement around furnace area
I notice it was a little damp by the tiles in my basement around the furnace and water heater area. I didn't notice any leaks anywhere though. It was just a little dampness. When I pressed on the tiles a little bit of water was underneath them. It seems to be more around the furnace then the water heater. Any suggestions? Again, there really seems to be no leaks from any of the pipes.

If you have a humidifier attached to your furnace that could be leaking. Many people ignore this and don't clean them or check them on a regular basis. They are fed by a copper tube and sometimes everything gets gummed up with hard water deposit. You may want to check that to see if that is where the water is dripping from.

This could be a hidden leak. Shut the power off to the water heater and open up the bottom inspection plate. Feel around, if the insulation's wet click on back and tell me. Regards, Tom

My newer high efficiency direct vent furnace has a condensate pump. Right after installation I had wetness around the bottom of the furnace. Turned out there was a bad seal and the condensate was leaking out the bottom instead of into the tube that leads to the pump. I don't know if any of that applies to you but thought I'd throw it out there.

This is cool, you have 3 very different points of view and each is perefectly plausible. Where do you live and are you still in the heating season? How old and what brand is your furnace and water heater.
