How can I get my hair to grow longer?
A little over a year ago I dyed my hair black. My hair was really long then but three or four months after that I went to the salon to get light brown highlights and they cut about an inch or two off because I had splits. They told me since it was summer that my hair would grow really fast and I kept waiting but nothing. Over time the highlights were breaking off. A month ago I dyed all my hair light brown because my hair didn't look right because you could see the breakage. My hair does grow but its not getting longer, it seems like its getting shorter. Right now its just a little bit below my shoulders and I want to get it long again. What can I do?

All the colouring is damaging your hair therefore it seems it's been breaking off!
Give your hair a break from colouring. Use moisturising shampoos and conditioners. Intensive conditioners are good too, try using them at least once a week to get your hair back into good condition. Hot oil treatments are fab too!
Once you've started to care for your hair, you'll notice less breakages.
Also, go for regular hair trims to keep it looking healthy.

Hair grows faster if you get all of your vitamins and minerals, and drink lots of water. The healthier you are, the healthier your hair will be. Condition with deep conditioners and use leave in shampoos to return your hair to its original health.

Some peoples hair grows faster than others, though, so if you want to make it look long quickly, you could always buy extensions. Clip ins are easy to put in, and if not made with real hair, are not too expensive. Also, this is perfect to do with black hair, as it is easiest to match the colors.

Get a small trim regularly: a half inch off to remove the split ends and the most damaged hairs. This will keep your hair growing, even once it has reached the point of where it seems to stop growing, which may for you be at your shoulders.
