    DELTA shower trim replacement
I have delta shower single lever controls from 1989 with the knob handle. They have the rectangular cam with the ball with 3 holes and 3 copper tubes to valve. The diverter is on the spout. What trim kits are available for this as I don't want to change the rough in valve? Do I change the cartridge? Thanks

No, not really. I am trying to get away from the knob look. I would also look to replace the cartridge. Thanks

NJow I need the model number or model name of the shower valve. What kind of a look do you want? Will a lever instead of a knob do it? Regards, tom

I don't know the model number yet. I don't want the knob I prefer a handle. Thanks

Did you ever figure anything out on this. I am looking for the same thing. I do not want to replace the valvue, but do want a lift and turn handle. Thanks.

Don't bother replacing the cartridge if it doesn't leak, don't fix what isn't broken and this does not show or affect the trim kit.

Call Delta people. They are very helpful. They will tell you exactly what new trim you can use on your existing Delta faucet.

If you want to change the knob to a handle then Delta makes the replacement, (see image). Good luck, Tom

    From the Delta Website:

Can I change my single-handle knob faucet to a lever?

Single-handle lavatory and tub/shower models can be converted from a clear or smoked knob handle to a lever handle. However, the "action" of a lever handle differs from a knob handle so you also need a different ball valve (RP20111) in your faucet for the lever handle to operate properly.

A single-handle faucet converted from knob handle to lever handle will operate slightly differently from an "original equipped" lever model.

Not as simple as screwing on a new handle, but at least you do not have to replace the entire valve. Thanks to all who replied. I hope this helps someone else!
