Water heater wiring into breaker panel
How do you wire a 220 2-wire electric water heater into a breaker panel?

Fist you have an empty 220 breaker that is the correct amp for your hot water heater. But I will be honest, if you have to ask how to wire it, you do not neeed to ave a breaker box open and running wires to it.

    VERY wise words!

True, this is a DIY site. It's also true that some folks are better of NOT DIY'ing!

Most electric hot water heaters are 30amp 240v circuit. Read the name plate on the unit this will tell you the correct amps and voltage. But let say it is rated for 30amp 240v. Then you would install a 10/2 romax with ground. Install black wire and white wire to breaker (30amp 2-pole) one wire on each screw. Ground wire to grounding bar. Make sure the panel has room for a 2-pole breaker. White wire on breaker & unit splice needs to be remark with black tape so it will be notice as a hot leg.
