How do you balance a ceiling fan?
I have a hamptom bay fan and it rocks, literally. My wife likes the fan so I need to fix it so that it works right.

They sell little metal strips that you put on the fan blades themselves to balance out the fan. Before you try that would suggest that you tighten all the fan blade screws and the screws holding the fan blade brackets to the housing. A loose screw can make a fan wobble like crazy.

I found that when balancing a fan that sometimes I can get it almost perfect but not quite. What worked for me was swapping adjacent blades and then balancing. All 4 of my fans are rock steady.

Very good suggestion, and included in the instructions posted above.
