This depends on the state. However, if he is doing something illegal there is always the police.

Some states, if you have taken money from them, you have to give them anywhere from 30 to 60 days notice and then go through the proper eviction proceedings.
    Good luck!

If he is not on the lease, then he is YOUR tenant. You need to follow formal eviction proceedings against him. However, if he is breaking the law, you can get the police involved that way.

Well, in order to legally get rid of your roommate, you usually have to go through the formal process of serving him a 30-day notice. However, I am not sure of your state laws, so I am unable to inform you of how you could legally go about serving him the notice (usually you go through your landlord or the court). If he has not vacated the house by that time, then you are formally able to go through the court system and have him evicted. However, if he is committing illegal activities in your home, then it is in your best interest to contact the authorities immediately so that you may not be tied in to his crimes. In the commonwealth of Virginia, if he is committing crimes in your home, then you are held responsible, and you may have your property foreclosed in some instances.
