Statute of limitations on charged off debt
Can a debt charged off in PA in 2003 by Sears still be collected? The statute of limitations is listed as 4 years and it has been 5. They sold it in 2003 and I know they can try to collect and I have paid on it and they keep selling it but from what I have read I don't have to pay it.

You are aware that the Statute runs from the last activity on the account - you said you have paid on it? When was that? You may have started the Statute running all over again.

And, yes, they can sell it off and the purchaser can continue to try to collect.

Charged off doesn't mean closed... or paid.
