    Form 8843
I'm on an F1 visa and did not know that I need to file 8843 every year.

I came to the US in 2004, left on June 2005 and back on September 2005 and then stay on through 2006 and 2007. I did not file form 8843 for any of those years. Never knew that I had to.

Anyway, now I want to fix this by filing 8843 but still don't want to mess up my status. What year should I file? Just 2007?

If so, on questions 4a, it asks days that I actually present in the US, I will just be honest and fill everything out?

One more thing, I checked IRS website, it says "If you do not timely file Form 8843, you cannot exclude the days you were present in the United States as a professional athlete or because of a medical condition that arose while you were in the United States." It does not mention anything about F1 students filing 8843 late.

Will my status suffer? Or will I have problems in the future? Is there any severe consequences

    I'm so screwed, help!!

File Form 8843 with your 2007 tax return. Provide only the correct information.
File nonresident tax return for 2007.

File the Form 8843 for 2004 through 2006.

To my knowledge, no penalties are imposed for late filing, and better LATE than NEVER.
