Is there another process besides filing for a divorce when one hasn't been one's spouse for over 5 years?
Sorry, but no, if you want to be single and eligible.
Some states have a rule that if you filed for divorce or separation and you haven't gone back to complete it after 9 years then you are considered divorced but I believe you still need a judge to sign it off. Its just a different kind of paperwork.
Well I guess if you wait long enough the other person may die, which sort of solves the issue,
But no, you are still married if you did not get a divorce and you will have to go back and get a divorce

The only one to dissolve a marriage is a divorce - and different States have different grounds and time frames.
