    Wage Garnishment for Repo
Appoximately 5 years ago, my car was repossesed. Now I am getting phone calls from this supposedly law firm who says that if I don't pay them $2000.00 assuming what they are considering the balance, they are going to garnish my wages. The person that I spoke with said the collection agency turned my file over to them. Can they garnish my check?

    I live in SC.

Well without looking up SC laws, I will assume that wage garnishments are allowed there.

But if they have taken the balance to court and have gotten a judgement,
So have you been sued in court yet?
But if they have a judgement yes they can, but to be honest, if they had a judgement, theywould not be calling to collect, they would just garnish your wages. Why would they waste their time trying to collect if they could just get part of your check each week or attach your bank account.
