My 28-year-old daughter seems to think so, but I don't think they are very comfortable. It depends on the person. I would suggest lying down in one for awhile and see how it compares to the kind of bed you know that you have liked for sleeping.
What is good to look for in a futon, personally a place to throw it out at.
We had one for guests for a while ( one reason no one ever stayed more then one night)
We have had several and they were the worst thing to sleep on. I have had guests throw the cushon on the floor instead because the floor sleep better
Actually, it really depends on the futon. I have a wooden futon with a padding thicker than a regular mattress... and to be honest, my little brother prefers my futon over my bed.
If you get one be sure it has a thick mattress and preferably wood those metal ones are about as uncomfortable as it gets at least if you weigh over 20 pounds. We had one for a while looked great brand new even when we got rid of it. That's mostly because no body sat on it more than once. GOOD LUCK, AC
Japanese futons that can be folded in thirds and put away in a cupboard are totally different to the sort of futon we had to buy in Australia for a slat bed. Having opted for an extra thick futon, it was ridiculously heavy and impossible to move ~ even for two people. Comfort wise though, it was fine. Then again, I can sleep on almost any kind of bedding, except an air-mattress. If you or anyone else using the bed is at all fussy about bedding and tallish, then maybe give it a miss.
I did a complete turn-about recently and bought a luxury pillow top king mattress and bedding that's heaven to sleep on. I would never go back to sleeping on a futon again. If you're about to invest in new bedding that you want to last a few years, then it might be worth some further thought. Sheridan - Luxury Bed Linen, Sheets, Pillows, Quilts, Blankets and Towels
