How to remove / install a frost free hose bib
I need to replace a frost free hose bib that drips. How do I remove the hose bib? I'm thinking that I just need to chip away the mortar around the bib and unscrew with a pipe wrench, but since the device is screwed several inches into the wall, I don't want to bend a pipe in the wall by doing something wrong.
The original problem is that the bib has a cap on top, a drip valve on the bottom and an anti-siphon brass device screwed onto the hose threads. Whenever the bib is used, water drips from the drip valve that is just behind the hose threads. I think the real problem is with the anti-siphon device because sometimes I can remove it and push in the plastic valve, which puts pressure back on the bib and the drip valve stops dripping. Any advice on this is appreciated. I know that this anti-siphon device can be replaced a lot easier than replacing the whole frost free bib.
Thanks much.
