    Documents
My ex- wife is trying to get a house but she wants me to sign a document stating that she will stop paying child support and will have custody of they kids... She said that she is only doing it to get in a house and also has a letter of intent for me to sign explaining why she is doing this with no intent to actually try to take them away or stop paying. Does this sound legal to you? I have to give her an answer today

    Hi,
There is no way in this World I would ever sign anything like this without the advice of a lawyer saying it's OK. I seriously doubt a lawyer would tell you it's OK in the first place.
I'm not a lawyer. Just a person who went through a divorce, with children, then remarried now for 29 yrs.
I do wish you the best, and NO, don't sign that.
If you and your ex had that much trust in each other, there might not have been a divorce in the first place!

I agree with Fred you need to take legal advice before signing any legal documents... It sounds a little weird to sign a form that is not TRUE has no meaning?? Please go seek some legal advice ASAP before you do anything.

No it is not legal, unless you are really going to give her custody of the kids and allow her to stop paying child support.

She has other plans in mind for this than a house, in general neither of these should even be a issue on getting a house, sounds like she wants to stop paying you child support and is going to trick you into signing away your rights.

Next if you sign a document like this you can be held to it. So is this what you want to really happen??

And if you lie to help her decieve a business contract, guess who is committing fraud and can be held liable.

First rule of divorce, don't trust the ex

Seems to me that she would be obtaining a loan by use of fraudulent means and it sure be against the law. Check with a lawyer and sign nothing because once you sign she can get custody of the kids.
