I have a very, very odd situation... Tv turned itself on all by itself and turns the volume all the way up to 100. It flips through the channels automatically. I need help... Remote won't work and I want to know if I can fix or throw it out.. :eek: I will take any suggestions Tv repair place says $160 I'm wondering if I can fix it myself... :o

Traditionally tv's are not to be fixed by amateurs. I had several friends in the TV repair biz who always cautioned me NOT to open the back of a TV and try and fix it myself as I could get quite a nasty jolt of electric - yes, even if the set is turned OFF this can happen. Please either throw it away and get another one or pay to have it fixed. Fixing tv's is not an easy thing to do if you don't have the right tools!!

If it happens with the remote Out of site, batteries out(inoperative), then may be the buttons on TV and not the Remote being stuck.
You may be able to get a good Tuner Cleaner(Channel Master makes one that leaves no residue and safe on plastics, then with TV unplugged, Spray where buttons are pressed and press the buttons.
