Feeling tired most of the time
My mother, who's on medication for having multiple strokes to the brain, is feeling tired most of the time of the day. She did consult a doc n she was given some vitamin capsules to be taken daily. However this isn't making her feel any less tired than before. Would taking certain types of food help her feel less tired all the time? If so, could you suggest me some food which she should avoid taking and some food she should eat? And do you have any other suggestions you would like to give me? Thanks.

Some of my elderly clients here in Ontario are given monthly injections of vitamin B12 for extra energy and mental clarity. I suggest you ask her doctor about B12. You don't say how old your mother is, it would be helpful if you gave that information. As you probably know, elderly eat less at each meal, its okay that they only eat what they want, they are entitled but you should encourage some red meats once or twice a week and a daily geriatric vitamin complex available at most drugstores.

She would be wise to avoid refined sugar... foods high in sugar content. There was a book written awhile back called "Sugar Blues" which explains how rising and falling blood sugar levels effect feelings of wellbeing.
