One birth control pill will not likely help stop your period. However, pills have hormones that keep you from becoming pregnant, so its not going to help if you continue to take them.

How long have you been trying? Have you been to a doctor yet?
Also, are you taking prenatal vitamins yet? If not, go buy some today. If you do become pregnant, having the prenatals in your body will help a fetus avoid neural tube defects. If you don't it may already be too late before you can even know you're pregnant.
