How can I join the service
Look I am a convicted felon with a sales and delivery of marijuana. Now I tried applying for the marines, army, and the national guard. They say I can't join because of my sales and delivery charge. I just want to turn my life around. I have a baby on the way and want to give my child the best life possible but it seems like I can't do anything good for myself because I made a few wrong choices. I can't even get into any schooling because of my charges. At times I just want to give up. Does anybody have any advice for me? Thank you for listening.

Yes the sales of drugs is a lot worst than just use in the eyes of the recruiters. Also how long ago was this, is your sentence over, or are you still on probation or parole??

But if they won't take you, there is little choice at this point but to find another career

Have you asked any of the recruiters how or if you can go about getting a "moral waiver" related to the conviction to allow you to join the service? This is being allowed more frequently, and may not be automatically suggested by recruiters.

Hope it helps. Let us know if you find out anything.

Also chuck it is very hard to get into school to start a career due to the same circumstances with financial aid. They won't give me any money because they think I'm going to spend it on drugs. I've been drug free for 3 1/2 yrs now I'm getting pretty bumed out about the whole situation. And by the way thanks for the support

Im trying to get back in the service. I was booted out years ago because of drugs. If I find any loop holes. I will pass them on. Tell Chuck to, get bent... Keep trying, OK... Your baby needs you.

If this persons baby needs them, and they are refused from joining the service because of a criminal history... Then maybe it would be better to move on and get the ball rolling on providing the financial security a family would need. A person could continue to make attempts to establish a position within the military and have a different job at the same time. Ultimately if it does work out that this person can not enlist, they would be way ahead of the game in regards to having a career, nursery, rent, food, diapers, ETC... for their baby.

I hole heartily agree. I just meant "don't give up"... I didn't mean give it 100% commitment and push all other possibilities to the curb. If the Military is not an option then maybe a different path must be taken...
