Trying to VNC, how to turn off router on Intel Pro /100?
Hi,
I'm trying to help my uncle (a bit older) who lives in another city with some computer stuff, so I decided to use UltraVNC which works great when the 2 computers are in the same network. He installed UltraVNC server, and I'm trying to connect to it through UltraVNC viewer.
He has AT&T DSL which he says that the phone cable comes from the wall into the PC modem (which is an Intel Pro /100 VE). I'm pretty sure there's a ADSL modem in between there, but fine.
The following is what he gets:
IP Address.. . : 192.168.1.100
Default Gateway.. . : 192.168.1.254
DHCP Server.. . : 192.168.1.254
Doing a quick search online, it looks like that IP (192.168.1.254) is the default IP that the router gets on Intel Pro /100. So my question is: How do I turn the router off on the Intel Pro /100 VE so that I can actually access it from my UltraVNC viewer? I need his computer to be exposed to the internet for a little bit.
I know how to setup hardware routers/firewalls from Linksys, but I've never dealt with Intel Pro router software.
Thanks!
