Neighbors cat had kittens in my house - can I keep them?
There was a kitty about 12 months old that kept coming into our house. She was very sweet and we didn't really mind. We thought she belonged to our next door neighbor. The cat ended up pregnant and I went next door to find out if it was their cat. The neighbor advised me that it was a stray that they kind of take care of but they don't let it in their house because it won't use the litter box. Kitty had kittens last week in my house and now the neighbors are insisting that the cat is theirs and the kittens also! The said the cat was given to them by the mother in law.

Since the cat spent most of the time in our house and the kittens were born here can I keep the kittens? What about the cat? We already have homes for three of the five kittens and since they never got the mama cat fixed I'm sure they won't get any of the babies taken care of either.

Help... we don't want these irresponsible people to have any more kitties!

As someone said, possession is 9/10's of the law.

If they inquired about them again, I would say I guess she just moved on with her kittens... you know cats will do that sometimes. Just up and go. Who knows someday she may show back up.
