    Security deposit
About 14 days ago I moved out of my apartment. I broke my lease, but my landlord told me it was fine as long as I found a new tenant to take my place. I found one and she started paying rent the day I left.I moved out march 30th and the new tenant moved in march 31st

Now he is refusing to return my security deposit on the grounds that I broke my lease. He even asked for the forwarding address to send me the check knowing full well he wasn't going to send it and today I got a letter stating the house was dirty which is wasn't and a list of things no prices but it was small things like the bathroom wqas dirty nothing major. If it was as bad as he said he would not had someone move in the next day. Do I have a right to my security deposit? And if so, how can I get it from him? I live in pa. doesn't a verbal agreement count

File a lawsuit against your landlord for the return of the entire security deposit. The landlord cannot withhold the deposit because you broke your lease. The only way he can withhold it is to cover rent until someone new moves in and for the money he spent to make repairs. If someone new moved in the next day then he didn't lose any rent and he didn't spend any money to make repairs.
