Getting out of a lease in Texas
I have a friend who he and his fiancé has been living together in an apartment for over a year now. They have signed another lease together. After a few months they started having problems now they are no longer together and the girl has locked my friend out of the apartment. He wants to get another apartment but his name is still on the lease and she won't take him off the lease. Is there a way that he can get out of the lease seeing as how he can't get back into the apt?

I had this happen to me more or less. I just applied at a new apartment, even with my name still on the old lease, and got approved. Aside from her going with him to the management and signing that he isn't on the lease anymore, he is stuck. As far as I know.

He needs to speak to the management but chances are they will not remove anyone from the lease and give up a possible option for them to collect from.

Were I him, I would call the police and have them escort him to retrieve his property.

If she ends up not paying or breaking the lease, they will come after the easiest one to get the money from.

    Good Luck to your Friend.
