    Unlocking a ignition
I recetly bought a 76 Nova parts car for my race car... We used a fork lift to get it on the trailer, because there was no keys for it. I have to get it off my trailer now, but I can't get it out of park, and I can't turn the wheels to turn it. It has a really nice original tilt steering column, that I don't want to wreck. Without a key, what can I do? Is there a simple way to pop out a ignition without deystroying the column..? Thanks in advance..

There should be an easy way to pop out the ignition since it is a '76.
The next easiest way I would think would be to take off the steering wheel with a harmonic steering wheel puller.
I am sure somebody here can help you. I haven't had to do that in years so I don't remember the step by steps. An auto parts place may be able to tell you too.
The easiest way is call a locksmith and have him make a key but I heard they are charging around $150. Now.

Yes, as long as you can show ownership, a dealer or a locksmith can actually just make you a key

Well it cost me about 30 bucks for the shop to take the serial number and make a key. I had a truck where it cost 40 bucks to have a locksmith take the door lock and somehow ( I know they are keyed different) but they take it, and make the ignition lock somehow)

Maybe it is cheaper in your state. Locksmiths in my state charged $70. In 1999.
In 2004 they were up to $90. 2007 they went up to $150.
