I have got some crazy plumbing problems going on right now. Every time I run water in my kitchen sink, it comes back up in the bathroom sink where it just stands there and won't drain. The water that sits in the bathroom sink looks black and like sewage or something. If anybody can please help me solve this I would really appreciate it. Thanks.

You have a blockage in the drain line. If you are not having problems with toilets the blockage will be before the main line. Some where before the main line, the drains from the kitchen sink and the bath sink come together. Snake out either the kitchen of the bath drain to clear.

It is sewage so be cautious with your rodding. Harold is correct about the rodding but I suspect it is blocked further downstream after where the sinks join the main. Hope you have a clean out somewhere along the main, do you?

I know pretty much nothing about plumbing. I figured it was some sort of blockage in the drain, so I bought a 15 or 25 ft long snake. Problem is, I have no clue how to use the thing! I know it seems easy, but when I tried it, I couldn't get it past the bends in the pipes. Any advice on how to snake the pipe?

Remove the trap underneath the sink. Pull about a two feet of snake out of the drum an start it down the pipe. Begin turning and pushing the snake, drum and all, toward the pipe. When you have that in the pipe, pull another foot or so out of the drum by holding the snake and pulling the drum back. Turn and push. It's the turning of the snake that not only clears the blockage but makes it go through the turns.

I have tried snaking this pipe out like 15 times now and it isn't doing me any good. I am beginning to wonder if the black sewage looking stuff is because of my garbage disposal. The garbage disposal has never worked since I have lived here. I just recently fixed the thing, and now I am suddenly having all of these problems. When I glance down the disposal, it appears that is where the black gunk is coming from. What can I do? I am beyond frustrated now. Please help!

Hello, you may not be reaching the problem with the small cable, it depends on which way the drainlines are running, you might be at the farthest point and need to try from the other drain. But it seems to me that your going to need a plumber to rooter out your drainlines. Good luck
