    Shower basin removal
I am trying to remove a shower basin from my basement. It is set on concrete. The basin is fiberglass. The pipe coming from the floor is iron (rusty too). How is the basin attached to the pipe? Adhesive? Is something screwed down? Help? Thanks. Christina

    Hi Christina,
The shower drain is sealed to the cast iron pipe by a lead and oakum poured and caulked joint.
To remove the lead ring, Take a 3/8ths.drill bit and drill a few holes down toy the oakum. Now drive a screwdriver down those holes and start to lever the lead ring up. Now you can simply peel the lead ring out. Pick out the remaining oakum and the shower base should pull right up. Good luck, Tom
