No cold water from wall tap
    Hi,
For the past few weeks the cold water tap that flows into the washing machine has been working some days, not on others. I can't seem to locate a pattern on when/why it decides to work. The hot water always works. I thought it might have been the washing machine, but nothing is coming from the valve on the wall. Washer and dryer are on the second floor.

    Any suggestions are greatly appreciated!

How did you find that there was no water coming from the tap on the wall? Did you take the hose off the tap? Where the hose connects to the tap there should be a rubber washer with a screen wire filter in it. These can get stopped up very easily. So take the hose off the tap and check the screen. If it is dirty connect the other end to the tap and flush the line down the drain and then re-connect the way it was to begin with.

There is no wire screen on the end of the hose connected to the tap, the only wire screens are in the washing machine. The two wall taps simply have a red and a blue plastic piece that allows me to shut/open the valve. If I disconnect the hose from the wall and open the hot water valve, water sprays, if I do the same with the cold, nothing comes out at all.

That puts the problem in the cold water valve or the cold water supply line.
Do this, shut the water off at the house stop and open up the blue cold water valve. Ckeck the seat for any crud that may be clogging it. Now, with the valve still apart , Have some hold a pail to catch the splash and turn the water back on to flush out the cold water supply line. You should have a full stream coming out of the open valve. Reassemble and test. Better now?

When I got hom from work today I tried the cold water, it sputtered a little then came back... for now. Should this problem arise in the future (which based on the history it will) I'll try what you've mentioned above. Thanks so much for the help!
