Do I need to include social security and medicare wages in 1040 NR-EZ
I am presently on F1 status and have been staying in US for less than 3 years (International student from India). However, social security taxes and medicare taxes have been withheld in my W-2. I know that I can get a refund from my employer, if not, then by filing Form 843 and 8316.

I am going to file Form 1040 NR-EZ. But the question is: Do I have to include social security wages and medicare WAGES in the form? If yes, how? What about withheld social security and medicare TAXES?

Will I be able to file my tax returns with this W-2 or do I need a new one?

In worst case, can I extend filing date of my taxes?

Any help would be deeply appreciated.

    Thank you in advance.

You do not report social security and Medicare taxes withheld on Form 1040NR-EZ.
Also you should ask your employer to refund you the FICA taxes withheld. Send them an email.

Thank you for answering my question. But I also needed to know about the social security and medicare WAGES. Do I have to add them up with wages and tips in Box 1 of W-2 and then mention it in Form 1040 NR-EZ as my total salary? Or Shall I just write the amount mentioned in Box 1 of W-2? This piece of information will be very helpful.

    Thank you once again

Your taxable wages are the amount in box 1 of W2.

Awesome! Thank you MukatA for your expert advice. One last question. Is it possible to claim withheld social security and medicare taxes from the employer after tax return has been filed?
