Unpaid leave of absence considered a short term disability?
Hi, because I had to take care of my sick family member, I took unpaid leave of absence for 7 months in 2007 from my job. Can this be considered the short term disability and deduct from the tax? Thanks!

Were you disabled? No, you just took care of someone. I don't think this would be a legitimate deduction. I would advise not doing this in case you get audited by the IRS.

No it not a short term disability for you, it may be for the person you took care of depending on what their illness was.
