Lien on my house. Not my debt
A builder moved a sewer in a public easement across our property. He did not pay a sub who then filed a $20,601 lien against the builder and in MY NAME. The lien was on my house and property. Later, when paid the release does not mention the builder, has MY name and says “the indebtedness has been compromised or otherwise settled and in recognition of such compromise or settlement” the lien is released.
I have had a top credit score and since this is a permanent record have this question, is my credit going to suffer because of this lien? I am concerned it looks as though I did not pay when the debt was someone else’s.
