    Raise drain in sunken tub
I have a tiled sunken tub that I want to raise the drain so I can fill in the tub and make it into a shower. I was told that I need to chip away the tile and dig around the drain. Digging around the drain is not easy as I have been using a cold chisel and 3 lb hammer the last two days. Is this the right approach?

The approach is fine... hard work, but fine.

If you want to speed things along a bit, can also rent a chipping hammer from a rental store, and chip out in no time at all.

Notice I did not say jackhammer... that would be overkill here to say the least!

A chipping hammer is a much smaller tool that will make quick work of this for you.

    Good luck... Mark

AKA a rotary hammer. My Hilti has saved me tons of work.
