    Pressure Test
I'm wrapping up on my installation of pex and plastic manifolds and plan on doing a pressure test next week. My question is how much pressure should I put into the system and how long should I let it set? Also is any deviation in pressure acceptable or should it hold all of the pressure for the entire test?

    Thanks in advance

    Hi Bob:

Good question. In Massachusetts, we are required to test water pipes at 125P.S.I... but this does not apply to pex systems

If testing with air, my viega pex manual says anywhere between 40 to 100 P.S.I... hold test for 15 minutes, no drop in pressure.

Air is good way to test if haven't done a ton of pex work... could save hassles/time, etc.

Most of us working with the stuff daily just turn the water on and then give a tug to each joint.

Anyway, I would air test at 75 P.S.I... hold 15, and then turn water on

    Hope that helped... Mark
