I recently replaced the vanity lights (2) in my bathroom, and only one of them is working. I have tried troubleshooting every possible thing I can think of... the wires are properly connected, the sockets appear fine, but one fixture just won't come on. They both operate off the same switch so I know that is not the problem either. Any else I can check and/or try?

You may just have a faulty vanity light. Or if the lights are connect in series there may not be enough power to run two large lights. Although most likely not the problem. Take a Multi Meter and test the voltage to the hot and neutral if there's 120 showing than you need a new vanity.

Okay, I'll bite first.

Since you know the wiring is correct, do you mind telling us what you call correct?

Are you using 14/3 to power both lights from the switch? Are using a switch loop that returns power to light 1 and runs it to light 2? Where is the source located and how is the switch connected to that source? How is light one connected to light 2?

By the way, have you moved the failing light bulb to the working light to verify that the bulb is working?

I am not sure what you mean by all those numbers :) I did not have to do any fancy wiring to put these lights up. I simply took down the two old vanity lights and put up two new ones. I know the new ones are wired correctly, because the two sets of lights I put up are exactly the same, I wired them exactly the same (simply black to black and white to white), and one is working and one is not. In answer to the other question, yes I have tried different light bulbs in each of the three sockets on the light and it still does not work.

Center prong is OK? And you tried swapping bulbs?

With the power off, Try slightly prying put the center prong(I call this my $50 dollar fix, quick fix quick cash.) This seems to happen way to often, especially with the compact fluorescent lamps
