    Emotional Overeating
    Hi,

I have gained 100 pounds in one year due to emotional overeating. I fill the void in my heart and soul by eating anything that gets my mind off the fact that I'm unhappy.

I want to be happy again and I can't be happy while I'm overweight. I want to have a family and live a normal life. I need your advice, I need to overcome emotional overeating but I don't know how. I read various articles on the net but none had a real answer.

    Thank you all

Please be patient. The person or persons who may be able to help you may not be online at the moment. We volunteer our time here.

There is no need to post the same question multiple times in multiple forums. It can take as much as a day or so to have your question answered.

Counceling is very important. There are emotional issues deep at work here. Some at the surface and some hidden. Receiving counseling will help you learn better ways of dealing with your emotions. It takes a lot of time and patience and there is no quick therapy. One step at a time. You coming here for direction and hope is an awesome start at your end. Once you are able to figure out how do deal with things in a better way, looking at things in a new light. Once you begin to have hope again your life will begin to change for the better.

I think you need to sort out the cause of the overeating first before tackling the weight, otherwise it is just going to be a yo-yo battle.

Have you spoken to your doctor? You need to find a specialist who you can speak to in person to work out your problems and offer support and guidance.

In the mean time you need to work on loving you. Try joining a club, to interact with other people with similar interests, or volunteering there are some great programs out there. By helping others and directly seeing the positive impact you can have on other peoples lives you can help yourself.

I hope you try and get professionl help and guidance. Remember that I you don't like the first, second or even third person there are always many more with different methods and personalities. Find the right person for you.

    Good luck

Try to find something else to do rather than eat. If you want to eat - go outside (check the mail), brush your teeth, or what I have been doing lately - don't go home - I have ben dropping the kids at school and staying out, going shopping. Doesn't always work though.

I try to keep busy and sometimes that works, but I guess the story is bigger than that... I guess the flame of life inside me has become none but a few ashes waiting for that gentle wind that'll carry it away..

I've been betrayed and abandoned by this woman, from almost seven months now. I thought she was my life but she turned out to be the exact opposite. I eat so I won't think of how unhappy I am... maybe I should keep it that way and in a few years, a stroke would end it all.
