The expression “bases” comes from American's greatest pastime, Baseball. The object game is return back to home base which you have move to 1st, 2nd, 3rd and finally home base. When you reach home you score.

Now, when it comes to relationship/dating.

1st base – kissing (not sexually) and hugging.

2nd base - including 1st base and adds Heavy kissing (sexually), making out and arms around each other.

3rd base- this is all of the above and excludes sex intercourse. Depends on the individuals, because someone 3rd base could actually be someone home run

Home base - is sexually intercourse, there are some people that believe oral sex is not sex and decide that its belongs in 3rd. There really isn't a set rule this are just general guidelines.

Never heard someone say ”I hit a line drive”

I heard of striking out which means the person was rejected.

Home run, needs not be explained.

Despite this stupid system of judging a sexually relationship.. please understand things happen at it's own pace. If you do happen to be or get into a relationship with someone don't try to force your way around these bases.

Yes and in general people who use these terms for real are generally childish and not mature.

Bases? Are you referring to junior high, or what.

Jeez, it's been so long since I used that system, I can't even remember. It seemed important at the time, but then I turned 15 and forgot all about it. Everyone else is right, this is a very immature way to decipher a relationship.

... and I think rather a bit disrespectful to the girlfriend or boyfriend.

You have just taught me too! I never knew this, but I never dated. It is nice to learn something new!

Line drives are when you just really hit it off and the chemistry works. I've gone straight to 3rd. The relationship lasted about three months though.

If you need a scorecard, the game is over, and its time to go home.
