Resident doctor on J1 how do I file for exemption
I am a resident doctor on J1 from India. How do I file for exemption? Which forms do I have to fill?

For two years you are exempt from residency. Also you are also exempt from federal income tax if you are here for Research. If you are considered trainee, then you pay federal tax and you will get deduction as per tax treaty. You will file nonresident return (if needed) and Form 8843.
