L1 - Foreign Tax Credit - Secondment Model.
I was in the USA from Jan-08 to Oct-08 on a L1 visa.I was being paid both US allowances and indian Salary in the USA.

While in US I was paying taxes for both the US and indian components.
When I return to India I also pay tax for the indian component of the salary I received while in US.

Is it possible for me to claim this foreign tax as foreign tax credit while I file my US returns.

    Let me know.

You worked in the U.S. from Jan 07 to Oct 08 and were paid in the U.S. by the U.S. company. You must have received Form W2. This income is taxable in the U.S.

Now if you pay tax on this income in India, you will not get credit in the U.S.
Get credit in India for taxes paid in the U.S.
