    Background check w/fingerprints
Hello all, new to the board here.

I was recently offered a job in a residential elderly care facility and was asked to go in for fingerprints to do a background check. I've had a misdemeanor expunged about 10 years ago but was wondering if anything would come up. What does the employer see when they get the fingerprint report back? I live in California and this is the first job that's ever asked me to get fingerprinted, so I'm a bit worried.

Thank you all in advance for your help.

Typically if the expungment was filed and processed correctly, it basically eliminates any record. In most states you can obtain a certified criminal history through the Court Clerk. If on that record you find a SID (state ident number) then the expungment may not have been properly processed. If so I would say your fine.
