I am currently teaching my daughter not to put personal information on public websites. I'm also trying to teach her not to be friends with psychotic people.
I am currently teaching my daughter how to kick some AZZ!
No, I'm not, but I will. That is the most degrading thing I have seen in a long time. How could they? How do people act in such a manner? Obviously they have no conscience.
No worry whether they will get in trouble or how they could hurt someone like that. What has gotten into these kids? This is bad, very very bad.
I would be so mad and embarrassed if my child had participated or just stood by and did nothing to help.

Good thing we are cleansing society of all those traditional values .
I suppose someone will champion Youtube's right to have this posted on their sight uncensored . But what is this if not providing a venue for criminal activity?
I'm not calling for a boycott or anything like that except I will suggest that they should examine their policies . They provide a useful service do they really want to be the venue of choice for cyber and real criminal bullies ?
oops meant myspace but my comments apply to both sites.
You know, girls and boys in middle school and high school can be so cruel.
It happened to me, but I didn't get beaten up, just emotioanlly abused.
I agree Tom, but it would be better if we could get some justice for this. We can go back to blaming the sites, but that is not the REAL problem in my eyes. The people using the site irresponsibly and unjustly, they need to be held fully accountable. YouTube could do a better job "looking out" or Myspace could too, but why do we always blame the gun and not the shooter?
True but look at how administration monitors this site for comparison. Youtube and myspace provided the forum .
I agree, they need to be much more attentive. I also think that PARENTS if they allow their kids to have a myspace need to be more attentive to what is being posted, do daily and hourly checks depending how often their children log in. :)
I just know that each of those kids involved should be charged and it should go all the way!
I'm sure if it wasn't myspace and YouTube, it would have been Facebook and break... unless you want to get rid of the internet altogether, just regulating a few sites more closely won't help.
I believe you are right, and a little more monitoring and less drama with our kids would help too.
Again my point is a big part of the motivation for the attack was to post a "shock video" on these types of forums. Just Google "girls attack " on the web and see what you come up with. This is criminal behavior that is being promoted by allowing this to be posted on these sites .
What's next ;snuff video ?
I agree, this is stupid. The people brought on the urge to do it though. YouTube never said, hey allof you posters, please, we need the most outrageous video, you will get lot's of attention and make our site the best! They never said that. Just because there is opportunity to do bad, doesn't mean we should take it. We all should know better!
I wish these fights were not allowed to be posted. We had a fight at one of the schools in my town and not only was it posted on Myspace and You Tube it was on all of the major t.v. stations. The kids and parents were guest on shows like Tyra Banks, Good Morning America to name a few. I wonder if they got paid... Whether they were or not I am sure there are kids that worship them now and kids that want to video a more violent fight ( I've heard a lot of kids think that it was a soft fight) so it would not surprise if this same school is not on the news again.
I wonder if these kids are going to be invited on all the major shows. I hope not I think it just encourages and rewards bad behavior.
Totally, that is what I mean by them getting attention. Other kids as sick as they are think this is cool. Damn, I am surely going to have a long talk AGAIN with my kids tonight!
The scope of the two sites is not comparable by any stretch of the imagination.Quote:

I hope parents start educating their children more about acceptable behavior, not only online, but also in person. There is a whole generation of "precious little snowflakes" right now whose parents think they can do no wrong, so they end up doing things like this and wonder what the problem is.
I hope all the people involved are punished. And I hope this forces ALL public forum sites to monitor their sites better and develop policies to prevent such things from going up. Moderating is hard, especially on the size and scope that myspace and YouTube operate under, but it's not impossible.
All the more reason for them to take more interest in self monitoring . I do not know what pressure can be brought to bear on them. Do they advertise on other sites or take ads ? I wonder how they would respond to a growing campaign to get servers to block them based on the public pressure ?Quote:

The only way to really get the sites blocked are to either have parental control software on the computers being used (Which is a good idea to have in place anyway), or to have the ISP block them.Quote:

A third way would be to configure rules in your router to not route traffic destined to specific IP addresses and ranges, but that's out of the question because even a lot of tech-savvy people can't do that.
The lesson is that parents really do have to keep an eye on their kids... I'm part of that generation where parents just don't care enough about what we're doing. Mine didn't really keep a close eye on me... but they didn't have to. I was raised knowing right from wrong. And I'm sure if I had started to act out at all, they would have been all over me, but the fact is that parents see their kids starting to act out, and they don't take responsibility for it.
Guns don't kill people.
Video games and TV shows aren't babysitters.
The internet doesn't commit hate crimes.
I would say that violence and drugs and alcohol are easier for kids to get than they used to be... but all that technology that makes things available, also makes it easier to check ID and lock down security. In my opinion, it's parenting that's at fault for most of the things people blame the media for.
I am so happy my fiancée and I decided NEVER TO HAVE KIDS!!
