    Trying to Understand
My grandmother for lack of a better word seems to be truly jealous of me. She is the mother of My Dad.

But my Grandmother very rarely has anything positive to say about me or my children. I have never been disrespectful to her. However on the other hand, the other grandchildren (All Male) steal, do and say almost what they want and she treats them like the crème de la crème. I don't understand. This has been going on for years, she is 94 years old now, and it has not gotten any better. I am 52 now, and at this point in both our lives, I feel this is all ridiculous but each time I try to put old hurts behind she hurls new ones.

    HELP!

No matter what, never take what she says personally as to make you act in a negative, direspectful way. NEVER. I'll bet you're her only outlet in her twilight years.

Wasn't implying any disrespect, merely suggesting you may be the only one she can take her frustrations out on.

She most likely sees what a good job you do and have done with your children as daughter-in-law, and notices that her other children and their wives raised unhealthy children... and she KNOWS you are the reason for the wonderful outcome.

I think it is a competition thing in her mind, and you come out as the better mother in her mind. She is not likely to give you any credit for the wonderful job you did.

Now, every time she says something unfair, you can think, "This is a supreme compliment to my abilities!"... and you can smile.
