Its usually about 36 weeks but everybody is different you could have your dates wrong or like with my first it just felt and looked like he had dropped but he hadn't at all I had all the signs that he had dropped the horrible pressure,it looked like it [everybody said he had dropped]but when I went to the doctors she told me he hadn't at all he was just ready waiting to drop down

Some people don't drop till a few days before they are due but as I said everybody is different
My second didn't drop right until the day I had my waters broken by the doctor [but I'm sure he wasn't ready to come out yet and the doctors had their dates wrong]

Having a baby is all a waiting game from the beginning to the end. LOL

Every woman drops at different times. Every pregnancy is different too. This is your first, so don't be so quick to think the baby is coming. It still could take every minute of the 8 weeks you have left.

The last 8 weeks are always the hardest. I know that I was ready to rip my arm off I wanted the baby out that badly. Everyone is different, and things happen at different times for different people. Good luck, and let us know how it goes. :)

Exactly. Wait until the last week, then every day starts to feel like a week. But it will be over sooner than you realize and then you'll have a beautiful baby and forget the whole pregnancy ordeal. If we didn't forget then no one would have another one. ;)

If you went very early with the last one, and your doctor feels you have dropped already, they may or may not keep a bit closer eye on things to be on the safe side. Sometimes babies will continue to come in and out of the pelvis the last several weeks of pregnancy, but if you do start to notice possible preterm symptoms, obviously let your doctor know.

Having some practice contractions is normal... your uterus contracts through much of your pregnancy, but it is not usually felt until closer to the end. If you notice 4 or 5 contractions in an hour... get plenty to drink (being a bit dehydrated can cause the uterus to contract more), change position, relax in a warm bath, get something to eat... changing activity will often cause them to subside. If they continue that way, let your doctor or midwife know. Backache that comes and goes... starts to get a pattern to it can also be how things start for some women. Obviously any leaking of fluid... sometimes difficult to tell as increased discharge is common late in pregnancy.

When in doubt, have things checked... even if you saw your doctor or midwife a few days before and everything was fine. If something new is going on, and causes you any worry, call... that's what they are there for. Some women feel they will be a bother or their care provider will think they are being silly or paranoid if they call or go in often. They would much rather have it be nothing than for you to let something go that they would have liked to address earlier.
