    Temp approaching 1000 hr mark
    My co-worker has told me, that a temp employee who has work for more than 1000 hours in the same company within a year is eligible for benefits. Is this possible? Any laws or government website I can look at? I search online and found not much help.

    This week I'lll approach 1000 hours, I am temp contractor, who was not hired through an agency. Does this 1000 hr thing apply to me?

    You are a temp contractor - you are not a employee. As far as I know being a temp contractor means that you are an independent contractor and not entitled to benefits. I have no idea where your friend came up with the 1,000 hours stuff as I've never heard of such a thing. Not in Ohio and Florida that is.

    There are no laws, there may be rules that your temp agency that you work for has, so what did the boss of the temp agency tell you when they hired you?? Not what some co-worker thinks, get out your employee handbook from the temp agency and see what their benefit rules are.

    Many do offer benefits if you work enough hours a year, others never offer any benefits, So call up the HR dept of the temp agency and ask them about the benefit rules
