    Reg' Dependent Filing
My bro supported me financially fr my Masters degree, He claimed me as a dependent in his tax filing by giving my ssn and my income..

How am I supposed to file the tax? Should I file?
I was to told to fill the form 8843, but where should I mention my brothers identification?
Or should I mention the Emplyer identificatin in the (Your U.S Tax payer identification number column of 8843)

It would be great if you can help me out with this issue.

    Thank You,

It appears that your brother cannot claim you dependent. You can be his 'Qualified Relative," but there are two requirements:
    1. Your brother provided more than half of your support for 2007
    2. You did not earn more than $3,400 in 2007.

Also a dependent must be a U.S. citizen or resident. If you are a student on F1, then you are exempt from residency for 5-years. You cannot be treated as a resident.
