    What are the laws on motor vehicle theft in Kentucky?
    I am doing a research project in sociology for school about the different kinds of crime and how they are delt with in Kentucky. I got the topic of motor vehicle theft or grand theft auto and I need to know the laws on what happens in Kentucky if this crime is committed.:)

    The laws can vary as to how the car was stolen, what was the purpose and even to what DA is determining what to charge.

    But if you are charged with the theft, then in sentencing many other factors will come into play, the intent, the age of the person doing it, and others.

    The same type of person in county A may get 3 years probation, but a similar person in county B may get 5 years in prison for the same charge.
