    Free banking accounts
I have read a lot about free banking coming to an end in the future but for now can someone recommend a fee-free bank account that has a debit card, internet banking and that will allow direct debits? I currently have a basic workers account and only have a cash card (can't pay in shops) which is extremely inconvenient in this day and age.

If you would tell us what county you live in that would help

Also what amount if normally in the account, almost all banks have free checking if you have 10,000 in the bank

But in the US let me see Regions bank, Regions | Personal Banking has several free accounts, and they have the visa debit cards that can be used anywhere visa can. I use another bank because of my business accounts and line of credits but for a personal bank they are great

Not knowing what banks have branches in your area, its hard to help. So I suggest you compile a list of banks in your area, then check their WEB sites to see what options they offer at what cost.

Don't believe everything you read in the press about the end of "free" banking in the UK.
In all honesty banking hasn't been truly free for years.
The banks are running scared after all the money they have refunded due to unlawful charges.
