    Assault/spousal abuse
Is there a statute of limitations for assault or spousal abuse in Ontario? Also, can I sue him for all the yrs of marriage as there are tooooooo many incidents to just claim 1?

    Hello fall:

I don't know. Call the cops. I doubt you can sue him, though. In the US, there a thing in the law called estopple. It means that if you don't stop something right away, you can't come back later and complain about it.

Are you asking about the Statute to sue him for assault/spousal abuse? Abuse is a CRIMINAL activity, not a CIVIL activity and you cannot (in many if not most places) sue your spouse for abuse.

As far as getting him arrested - ask the Police but you're going to have a problem with the old abuse. Once he abuses you and you go back to living as husband and wife (here in the US, at least) you have forgiven the behavior.

    So why did you stay?
